FCC Seal 2022The FCC's Media Bureau has dismissed an approved application for one company's noncommercial FM station in Key West following a rival broadcaster's challenge. Key West Radio was originally chosen for the new station license in January. [read more]

BBC Radio LogoIn protest of the BBC's plans to reduce local radio services across its stations in the UK, journalists working for BBC Local have gone on strike. The 48-hour strike started at midnight on Wednesday, with around 1,000 journalists taking part. [read more]

Podtrac LogoMay saw podcasts listenership get back on track after an April decline. In Podtrac's monthly ranking of the top podcasts and podcast publishers for May 2023, the average US UMA for the top 20 publishers rose 1% month-over-month and 11% from May last year. [read more]



Gimlet LogoIn the wake of significant layoffs in its podcast division, Spotify is canceling six shows. These new cuts follow the cancellation of 11 podcasts from Gimlet and Parcast last year. The streaming platform cut 200 jobs this week. [read more]
