Outlook is blocking pictures in my emails

Why has Outlook suddenly decided to block the pictures in my emails? I've NOT changed any settings, they're regular emails, not junk, no matter what I try, it still blocks them. This never happened in Hotmail. IMHO Microsoft have screwed up big time with Outlook, as others have previously said, if it isn't broke don't try to fix it. Bring Hotmail and it easy to use format back.

If this very annoying problem isn't solved soon, I will be seriously thinking about closing this email account and go with Yahoo or Google.

BRING HOTMAIL BACK.

Topdogtown,
Are they being blocked in Receive?
Or Send.
If Receive try clicking on Forward to see
if you can now see them.
This is a work around that has worked for others.
Definitely not a fix.

I have the same problem, but not just in the emails.  There is no "trouble shooting"  to do.  I didn't change any settings and Outlook Live is blocking ALL images.  When I look at my inbox, there is only text.  When I attempt to click or open something, the "clicking" hand/finger shows up, but I cannot access anything!  Something is truly wrong with Outook!  I have just about had it.

Hi RADTX,

Let me do my best to help you with your concern about issues you have in Outlook.com.

It is possible that there is a script error causing that page not being able to display properly. Or it can also be a page that is stored in browser cache preventing the email message to be shown.

Have you tried to access your emails using other browsers? If not, please try to do so for us to isolate the issue if it has something to do with your browser or not.

I would advise you also to try optimizing your browser. Sometimes the best solution is also the easiest. Clearing your browser cache and updating your browser will often does the trick. You can refer to this link for your reference.

If you are using Windows Internet Explorer, you can refer to this article below for your reference.

Also, please check this link for the supported browsers of Outlook.com.

Let us know how things turn out!

Thank you.

Hello Marco_Mi,

Thanks for your helpful, practical advice.  I had the same question as topdogtown.  But consider your opening words:

Hi topdogtown,

Despite your promise, you never answered that first question!  Why did Outlook do it?  Presumably it's something to do with blocking pornography and suchlike.   When I first hit the problem, I clicked 'help' in Outlook and it took me to the Windows help facility.   How absurd is that?  They asked me if they could monitor my clicks and then fill in a survey, so I gave them a piece of my mind.  All in all, I share many of topdogtown's sentiments about the poor quality of Outlook.

All the best,

Hi John,

I understand that image in your emails are being blocked. Don’t worry. We’re here to check this for you.

For us to isolate possible causes, we need to ask further information about this:

  • Are these happening to emails that you sent, or the ones you received?
  • Do this happen to all of your emails?
  • Could you please provide us the exact error message you are receiving?
  • What browser are you using? Do you have the same error when you use a different browser?

We’re looking forward to your reply.

Thank you.

Hi Ronaldo,

Yes, images in my email were being blocked but your reply to topdogtown showed me how to fix it.  That's why I said "thank you for your helpful, practical advice".   Beyond that, I mentioned my problem with the help facility that I accessed from Outlook.  When I asked it to search for "outlook pictures" it searched in Windows rather than Outlook.  Totally unhelpful.  Fortunately this thread came to my rescue.

Best wishes,

John Hext

I wonder why moderators ALWAYS take it for granted that people don't know what they are doing.  All the steps have been followed and the little white X in the Black box replaces pictures from ONLY one newsletter. AND YES,  ALL settings are correct and all TRICKS have been used. What is the real problem? BLOCK letters to emphasize.  Notice this forum is dated 2013...guess many like me just switching to Yahoo...which I have already began doing.
