Radio Health Journal Finds New Voice As Pence Retires

After more than three decades, Radio Health Journal will have a new voice for the show. Elizabeth Westfield will replace Reed Pence as he retires from the long-running public affairs health program.

Westfield received her broadcast journalism degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has worked at the Illini Radio Group voicing commercials and hosting multiple on-air shows covering a variety of issues. Radio Health Journal airs on more than 630 stations across America. With the hiring of Westfield, the half-hour program is now largely female-led, produced, and voiced.

“This brilliant team of women would not be in these positions today if it weren’t for the strong females before our time who demanded a seat in front of the microphone or at the boardroom table,” says Executive Producer Amirah Zaveri. “We’re thrilled to welcome Elizabeth to the team and look forward to creating more opportunities for women and minorities in media.”
