MRN Covers Historic NASCAR Event

The NASCAR racing season is starting early this year with a Sunday February 6, 2022, exhibition race in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. A specially built track will host the first race featuring the NextGen Race car.

“NASCAR racing has a rich history competing on short, flat racetracks across the country,” said Chris Schwartz, Motor Racing Network President. “And in less than a month we will be able to say that we have done so at a tradition-rich venue that has hosted the Olympic games twice and the first Super Bowl!”

MRN’s broadcast plans over the two-day event include single car qualifying on Saturday, February 5th to set the lineups for Sunday’s elimination heat races. Then Sunday, February 6th, play-by-play for all four heat races, two last-chance qualifying races and the 150-lap main event.

Traditionally the NASCAR season starts at Daytona, but this year the Coliseum event on the quarter-mile asphalt bullring configuration will roar off 14 days before the Daytona 500. MRN will cover the 64th running of Daytona.
