Radio Headlines For Friday 05-14-21

The latest revenue data from BIA Advisory Services details just how serious the damage was to radio from the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. The industry took a big hit last year due to businesses being forced to close, governments locking down and advertising coming to a near stand-still. [read more]

Not surprisingly, station transactions were also down during the year of the pandemic. BIA's latest data shows radio station sales fell to levels that hadn’t been seen in years. Only 534 stations sold in 2020 for an estimated value of $139 million. By comparison back in 2011 over 1,000 stations sold for $1.1 billion. [read more]



The IAB has released its annual Podcast Advertising Revenue Study which projects the industry will see $2 billion in ad revenue by 2023. Eric John, VP for the IAB Media Center & Chris Bruderle, IAB's Senior Director of Research & Analytics will join Radio Ink editor Ed Ryan on Clubhouse this morning at 9AM Eastern to discuss the revenue numbers.
